Position Overview:

The Technical Coordinator helps maintain the Second City’s three Toronto theaters and supports the company’s professional, rental, corporate, and educational productions.

This is a part-time role, reporting to the Technical Director. Some shifts may be in the evenings and on the weekends.

 

Essential Duties:

• Assist in the maintenance of Second City’s theatre venues and rehearsal spaces
• Maintain a working knowledge of Second City’s current lighting, sound, video, and networking equipment and its use in our shows.
• Routine inspection and maintenance of theatrical equipment and scenic elements
• Routine cleaning of stages, booths, and MD performance areas
• Check in with Stage Management and Musical Directors prior to showtimes throughout building
• Serve as first response resource in the case of equipment or production failure
• Complete projects assigned by the Technical Director
• Assist in set up and tear down of equipment for any temporary productions

Qualifications:
• This job may require the ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Training or relevant work experience in at least one technical theater discipline (lighting, audio, carpentry, video) is a must, as is competence in at least one additional discipline.
• Familiarity with QLab, Etc Eos lighting console operating systems, Blackmagic Design video systems and digital audio consoles is a plus
• Certifications in Working at Heights and MEWP a plus
